VLC Gives Back

The LPA is a legal instrument which allows you (the donor) to appoint one or more persons (donees) to make decisions and act on your behalf should you lose mental capacity. 

A donee can be appointed to act in the two broad areas of "personal welfare" and "property & affairs" matters. A LPA can therefore help prevent disagreements within the family about care arrangements, property arrangements and dealing with money, when you are not capable of making decisions on these matters yourself (for example, in the event of an accident, or if you develop dementia). 

Vaswani Law Chambers LLC is qualified to issue LPA Certificates for the purpose of registering LPAs with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG), which is the Government department in charge of LPAs. Obtaining such a certificate is the only way for an LPA to be legally registered in Singapore. 

If you don't have a LPA, someone will need to go to Court to apply to be your deputy to make decisions for you. This process will take up much time and is really expensive compared to making a LPA.

VLC Gives Back is our firm's initiative to encourage those who are frequently plying our roads, namely Taxi, PHV and food delivery drivers/riders, to consider making an LPA, to help bring peace of mind to both themselves and their loved ones. To encourage people to take this important step, we have reduced our fees for our LPA Certificate Issuance Service for Form 1 (i.e. straightforward LPAs) to just $45 nett.

The OPG has currently waived their $75 registration fee for Form 1 LPAs for all Singaporeans to encourage more Singaporeans to plan ahead with a LPA to protect their interests. As such, now is the best time for Singaporeans to take advantage of this offer and make an LPA at $45 nett, with no additional charges whatsoever. 

*For non-Singapore Citizens, a separate registration fee is still payable to the OPG ($90 for Singapore Permanent Residents and $230 for Foreigners).

To make an LPA, you must:  

1. be at least 21 years old
2. have the mental capacity and ability to make your own decisions 
3. not be an undischarged bankrupt (if you wish to make an LPA for property and affairs matters).

To make a LPA with us, you do not need to make a separate visit to a doctor. We do however require for your donee to be present, and both must bring their mobile phone with SingPass installed in order to digitally sign the documents in our presence. 

We reserve the right to refuse to issue a LPA Certificate to anyone who does not appear to understand the LPA.
